The beginning of soccer season

Both of the kids are signed up to play soccer this season. They are both in different leagues which should make our Saturday game days very interesting! :) Christopher is VERY excited to play soccer again. Of course, by the end of the season he always insists that he likes baseball better...but, he says the exact opposite at the end of the baseball season...that he likes soccer the best! Clearly, he likes both and can't choose one over the other! :) And because of scheduling it is impossible to play both at the same time, so alternating seasons seems to work for now. Carson has decided to give soccer another try. She played one season when she was four. She has claimed many times since then that she wants to play on a soccer team again, but when we reminded her that other kids would try to take the ball from her, she remembered why she wasn't a fan of the game long ago. :) So, before committing to playing I had to ask her many questions before I wrote a check...do you realize that you will be part of a TEAM?...do you know that you will have to practice (and go to practice) EVERY week?...do you understand that you will have to participate in a game EVERY week?...do you understand that other kids will be trying to get the soccer ball away from you? :) She definitely got a kick out of my interrogation! She assured me that she definitely wants to play soccer. We purchased all of the soccer "gear" and Christopher had his first practice. Carson asked if she too could wear her cleats and shin gaurds and open up her new ball so that she could practice off to the side during Christopher's practice. She did just that!

And here is what the "serious" soccer player did during his water break. Notice the baseball T? And the shin gaurds that have been re-adjusted many times...now barely hanging on over one sock? And the droopy drawers? He looks thrilled. :)
He really did have a good time. And Carson very much looked the part...of course, the apparel is always the appeal! She definitely looked cute! She doesn't start her practices for a couple of weeks, but she's fired up!
