We spent our entire Saturday enjoying a HOT Texas day fishing at a "fishing camp" near Madisonville (northeast of Huntsville). Mr. Smith (or, as CLC once said, "Mr. Smif"), one of Matt's co-workers has some land with a huge pond on it that we were able fish on. The boys had fished there before, but this was the first time that Carson and I joined them for the adventure. The property does have a home on it that is VERY rustic. :) I'm not sure what I envisioned, but it is DEFINITELY a boy's place...it's highly unlikely that Carson and I will join them again! :) The land is gorgeous and so is the pond, but Carson and I were unprepared for the amount of time that we would have to sit around outside in the heat or "inside" in the "cool." Regardless of the situation , we all had fun hanging out with one another! AND Matt and Christopher had fun fishing!
Christopher inspecting his tackle in the car. Usually he fashions safety pins, staples, or paper clips into "fishing hooks" by bending them. If he finds a bug outside he sometimes puts it on his homemade fishing hook. :)
Problem: Mr. Smith doesn't know where the key to the locked gate is. Solution: Buy a bolt-cutter and a new lock. Cut off the old lock and replace it with the new one. :) Pray that you are at the right gate and cutting the correct lock! Pray that no one drives by and suspects that you are trespassing on someone else's property. :)
Fishing on the boat with Daddy.
Carson getting ready to walk around and check things out with Mommy and Lily.
CLC loves Miss Daisy, Matt's old BB gun!
Time it took to pack the gear and load the car: 60 minutes
Time it took to travel: 120 minutes
Time it took Matt and Shea to pry the new lock out of it's package: 15 minutes
Time Carson spent fishing: 15 minutes
Time Christopher spent shooting dragonflies and Coke cans: 60 minutes
Time Shea spent listening to Carson tell stories and express her ideas and opinions: at least 120 minutes
Time spent with our family:
