Our neighborhood organized a "Welcome Home" gathering for a soldier returning home from Iraq whose family lives in our neighborhood. Neighbors put flags out in their yards and lined the street entering our neighborhood with flags. It was a surprise for this young soldier, so LOTS of people waited patiently with flags and signs welcoming Dan home.
The kiddos were so excited to learn about this soldier who is a Westpoint grad and who we are so grateful came home safely. It was a great experience for all of us to be a part of!
**By the way, Dan isn't actually a Lieutenant...it's just his "nickname." :) (Referencing Forrest Gump!)
